LRBC During Quarantine Slideshow
Update on the Parking Lot - October 2017
Picture
The picture above is a draft copy of what our parking lot will look like once it is paved. Our civil engineer has finalized the site plans for this project. Once this is approved by the Village, the lot will get paved, probably in early November. A summary of the current condition of our parking lot is listed below. Thanks be to God for His generous provisions.
The video on the right hand column was taken in 2014 which shows a problem we have with our parking lot when it warms up and then freezes again. Two winters in a row we had to completely close the parking lot due to melting snow & rain that froze. Each year during the winter, in order to keep the parking lot safe and open, we invest a significant amount of time in spreading rock salt, chopping up ice and plowing ice off the gravel. The melting snow & rain water that freezes does not drain off of a gravel parking lot like it does pavement, and it is much harder to clear ice off of gravel than pavement. Our parking lot ends up being a hindrance to ministry in that it takes too much of the pastor's and other people's time to keep the lot open, and sometimes we have to cancel events because we are not able to get the lot ready in time. A paved parking lot will not solve all of our problems, but it will greatly reduce the amount of time and energy it takes to keep the lot usable in the winter. May the Lord guide us in His will for what to do regarding the parking lot and how to do it, and may He provide for this to get done, as we seek to glorify Christ in all that we do as a church. ---Blessings, Pastor Marcus.
