The history and message surrounding the person and life of Jesus Christ has intrigued and fascinated people from all walks of life for the last 2000 years. Through faith in Him, Jesus Christ empowers us to persevere through the trials of life; to find healing where we've been wounded; to overcome the ugliness of our own pride, jealousy, anger, and lusts; to know the forgiveness and peace of a holy God; to find in our hearts the love of God for all people; and to rest in an unshakable trust that the God of the universe cares and provides for us. Jesus Christ also empowers us through the hope He offers in life after death, and in His promise that one day He will come back to bring an end to the suffering and evil of our world, when He returns to judge the living and the dead.
The Bible teaches that Jesus of Nazareth is the divine Son of God, who is Lord of all and Savior of the world. Jesus was sent to this earth by God the Father about 2000 years ago, in keeping with God's promises, as foretold by the prophets of long ago. He is the light that stepped into the darkness of our world; the God-man through and for whom all things were created; and Israel's long awaited Messiah, born of the virgin Mary, through whom all nations on earth will be blessed. Christ is the hope for the human race, who not only preached truth in a world of lies, He proclaimed Himself as the truth who sets us free.
Jesus lived the God-glorifying life we've all failed to live, and was tragically betrayed and abandoned by His friends, as the religious leaders of His day conspired against Him. Though He had the power to raise the dead and calm the storm on the sea, He allowed Himself to be arrested, and willingly laid down His life for you and me. Christ was publicly crucified between two thieves and died the death we deserve. But He rose bodily from the grave, appeared first to some of the women disciples, then to His apostles, and to over 500 believers at one time, and then ascended up to heaven. King Jesus reigns now and is coming back one day to judge the living and the dead, to bring justice for the poor and oppressed, and to save those who are waiting for Him, making all things new in heaven and on earth.
By the grace of God, who is calling out and raising up a people for His own glory, all of us who put our faith in Jesus are forgiven of our sins, adopted into the family of God, and empowered by the Holy Spirit as His church, to live by faith as sojourners here on earth; boldly proclaiming His gospel and making disciples, as we love one another, our neighbors and our enemies; and filled with joy, peace and hope as we wait for Jesus our Lord to come again.
It is this person, Jesus Christ who said - I am the light of the world, I am the bread of life, I am the way and the truth and the life. In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world. (John 8:12; 6:35; 14:6; 16:33; NIV).
